*NSYNC fans were waiting for the boy band’s performance at last night’s VMAs with bated breath, but that doesn’t mean they should hold out for a full reunion tour.
The guys joined Justin Timberlake onstage to perform “Bye Bye Bye” during his lengthy performance after winning the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award.
Surprisingly, J.C. Chasez told Ryan Seacrest today that it was Justin’s idea to get the old band back together.
“First of all, it was the worst kept secret ever, [but] Justin gave me a buzz and he said, ‘Hey man, listen. I’m getting this award and they have given me a pile of time to perform and we started our careers at MTV and I think we should get the band back together,” he said during "On Air with Ryan Seacrest."
Though Justin wrote an open letter about his “Big 2013,” telling his fans, “…we’re not done…Not even close,” J.C. said any kind of reunion just isn’t going to happen.
“No… It was just about five guys who were great friends who spent 10 or 15 years together touring and we… wanted to give that back to our fans, but we were there mainly to support Justin,” he said.
Still, JT fans itching for new music won’t have to wait long, as his new single “Take Back the Night” is out now and “The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2” comes out on September 30.
