You Can Burn Calories At Work With Desk Workout

September 13, 2017

Working a desk job or one that makes you very sedentary can be bad for your health. In fact, some experts believe these kinds of jobs are putting you in an early grave. Researchers compare sitting all day at work to smoking, and we all know how dangerous that is. Just 6 hours a day of sitting at work can increase your chance of death and other diseases.

If you had a job where you sit all day you have twice the likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease. So what can you do to sit less at work? Here are a few great suggestions that will break up all the sitting and get you moving more.

1. Get a standing desk or convertible desk that turns a regular desk into a standing one!

2. Get up every hour and take time to walk around the office or take a long walk on your lunch break! I have an Apple Watch and it reminds me every hour to stand up and move. You can also set an alarm on your phone to remind you to move if you need it.

3. There are exercises you can easily do in your office to get your activity level up. Check out this video showing just a few options on an in office workout.

4. Choose foods that are rich in vitamins and protein. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Just making a few of these changes on this list can really make a difference. I'm doing a wall sit right now while I'm typing this. :)
