Is There Still Hope for the 'Brangelina' Marriage?

August 10, 2017

Rumors are circulating that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have put their divorce on hold for now. Does this mean they are reconsidering and reconciling things?

It was just shy of a year ago that the World was shocked by the news that this long time celebrity couple was splitting up. There were tons of conspiracy theories as to why they were breaking up including Brad getting back together with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. She's a happily married woman and Brad cheated on her with Angelina, so I didn't believe that one for a second.

It came out that Brad had a bit of a substance abuse problem and Angelina didn't like the way he acted around the children. But Pitt admitted in a recent GQ interview that he didn't have the best role model for a father growing up.  "I grew up with a father-knows-best/war mentality — the father is all-powerful, super strong — instead of knowing the man and his self-doubt and struggles. And it's hit me smack in the face with our divorce: I gotta be more. I gotta be more for them. I have to show them. And I haven't been great at it."?

Brad has since gotten sober and is continuing to battle his demons. But all has been quiet on the divorce front for months now which has people speculating. Multiple sources are saying that "neither Brad or Angie have done anything to move the divorce forward and they don't think they will." They do have a lot of money and assets between them. Plus all of those children. I'd imagine it's not so cut and dry.

And if they aren't moving the divorce along maybe they are trying to work it out. Being in a relationship with someone who's addicted to drugs or alcohol is so hard for the entire family. You see this beautiful person you fell so madly in love with slowly get enveloped in this disease. That person becomes a shadow of what they once were. But still, you know how great it was and how great it could be again if the addiction were gone.

Perhaps that's where Angelina's mind is right now. She's just giving it time and watching and waiting to see if Brad has committed to a life of sobriety before she makes a final decision. Divorce isn't final. You can always get remarried, but there's nothing wrong with a long legal separation either.
