Halloween is right around the corner and will be here before you know it! This is a fun time of the year for children to get dressed up and go trick-or-treating. While keeping your children safe is a priority, ensure your pets' safety this Halloween too with some simple tips from the ASPCA:

Trick-or-Treating: Remember to keep the bowl of candy away from Fido! Also, if your dog is not the most social animal they should hang out in a separate room away from all the commotion during trick-or-treating hours. Encountering too many strangers during a short period of time can be scary or stressful to a pet.

Carved Pumpkins: A fun Halloween tradition but make sure to keep lit candles out of reach from your pets. They also might be interested in eating the pumpkins, which are considered relatively nontoxic to animals, however too much pumpkin can cause stomach aches.

Dressing Up Fido: Only dress up your furry friend if you know they like it, otherwise they can become stressed out. If they do like it and you dress them up, make sure the costume does not constrict the animal's movement or hearing or impede his or her ability to breathe. Try the costume on before Halloween to ensure it doesn't stress Fido out or cause an allergic reaction.

ID's Please: Always make sure your dog has the proper identification, whether it's a collar and tags and/or a microchip. If for any reason your pet escapes or becomes lost, this will increase the changes that he or she will be returned to you.
